“ We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.” Gary Zukav
As the blazing heat of an Arizona summer descends upon us may we remember the most vulnerable among us. As they cross our paths may we reach out with love and contribute to their life by acknowledging them, encouraging them, offering them a cool drink of water and giving them some life saving information.
• House of Refuge will have a cooler of iced water for those in need on the west side of our building at 6935 East Williams Field Road, Mesa.
• Let’s familiarize ourselves with heat relief/water stations in our area. There is an ongoing regional effort to provide water and cooling stations for the most vulnerable among us. Go to https://www.azmag.gov/heatrelief and see how you can help.
• Keep this number in your phone, (602) 595-8700. Refer those in need to the Family Housing HUB (Regional Coordinated Entry Center) –http://fhhub.org – for needed shelter, assistance and hope.
• If they are in distress do not hesitate to call 911.
By taking a few seconds out of our busy day and actively contributing to every human being we meet we will continue to strengthen the well-being of this magnificent community we call The East Valley and potentially save a life.
