Chef honored by nonprofit that once housed him

Private Chef Mat Meyer has whipped up mouth-watering dishes for the likes of former NFL kicker Jay Feely, actors Will Ferrell and William Shatner and even former President George W. Bush.

“I just was approached to cook for Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers,” the 42-year old Mesa resident said. “It’s wild. Going from nothing to have things the way they are now is surreal.”

Meyer wasn’t always a well-known figure among gastronomes in the world of fine dining. Nearly two decades ago, he was a homeless full-time father of two young sons.
