House of Refuge Donation Center

How to Make a House a Home?

Your donated items make a difference! Many House of Refuge residents arrive with few or no personal belongings. Thanks to the generous support of the local community, House of Refuge program participants can begin to rebuild their lives and turn their transitional housing unit into a home upon move-in. Families can ‘shop’ for these essential items at no cost. Anything they take home is theirs to take with them when they leave the program.

Where Can I Drop Off Donations

Onsite donations can be made at our Helping Hands House Donation Center. Needed donations include non-perishable food items, furniture* and other household items. The Donation Center also has a “toy closet” where parents can shop for a child’s birthday. We ask that these are new toys only please.

We gladly accept donations at the donation center Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m, and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

If you’re interested in donating gently used furniture, email a photo of the piece(s) to donationcenter@houseofrefuge.org so staff can assess the current inventory.

*Please note that we can only accept furniture that is ‘gently used’ and in good condition. We cannot accept items that are broken, ripped, torn, or stained. Please clean the furniture of all animal hair.

** Helping Hands House staff has the right to refuse any furniture.

    Donation Pick-up via ReSupply

House of Refuge works with ReSupply, a veteran-owned and operated business that picks up gently used furniture, clothing, and household goods and delivers them to non-profit organizations that will put the items to good use. For a fee paid by the donor, ReSupply will save you the hassle of drop-off. ReSupply staff will pick up your items in a truck, haul them away, and give you a receipt for your donation.

ReSupply will take everything including building materials, TVs, mattresses – even items that House of Refuge cannot accept at our Helping Hands House Donation Center – and pass them on to other non-profit organizations throughout the Valley who could use them.
