What is the House of Refuge Program?

House of Refuge is a transitional housing work program with wrap-around social services that offers individualized case management support, along with educational and employment amenities and programs.

Participants are required to sign a lease and agree to pay $400 per month (utilities included).

Important Update for Prospective Residents

Starting January 1, 2025, all new residents moving into House of Refuge will be required to pay a $200 security deposit and the last month’s rent of $400 upon move-in.

Housing Program Eligibility

Please read the House of Refuge Transitional Housing Program eligibility details listed below. If you believe you are eligible for our program, please complete the Housing Inquiry Form. Note that eligibility does not guarantee acceptance into our program. When we have openings, the Housing Inquiry Form will be available. Check back often!

To be eligible, you must:

Be deemed homeless, have received an eviction notice, or fleeing domestic violence.

Currently reside in Arizona.

Have some form of verifiable income, totaling a minimum of $1,170/month, throughout the eligibility and application process, at time of move in, and during the year-long stay. Documentation will be required. Examples include, but are not limited to, paycheck stubs, SSI, child support, spousal maintenance, etc. Cash jobs are not accepted.

Not have been charged with or committed any sex offense and can successfully pass a background check.

One adult must be of legal age to sign a lease – 18 years or older.

Have custody of at least one minor child living with you or be in the third trimester of pregnancy.

If verifiable income at move-in does not include employment, you must agree and be able to gain employment within 45 days from move-in.

Be drug and alcohol-free and able to pass a drug test (urine).
