House of Refuge announces grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust
MESA, Ariz. – House of Refuge, Inc. has received a grant totaling $80,000.00 from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
“House of Refuge has helped families experiencing homelessness for over 25 years with an innovative program that values work and education,” Kayla Kolar, House of Refuge President and CEO, said. “I’m thankful to the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust for recognizing our program’s ability to help families get back on their feet.”
Located on a former U.S. Air Force Base in Mesa, House of Refuge, Inc. provides transitional housing and support services to Arizona families experiencing homelessness. Families accepted into their program are provided with a retired military home and access to a donation center for food and clothing, employment and educational support services, programming for children and case management. The grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust will support House of Refuge’s Employment and Education Center and its employment specialist who works on an individual level with residents to help them identify a career path that will lead to self-sufficiency.
“House of Refuge not only provides its clients with stable housing, it also helps them restore their credit, and in many cases, increase their income before they leave the program, putting them on the path to long term self-sufficiency. We’re proud to support these efforts,” said Trustee Chair Carol Schilling, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
Since the Trust began its grant making in 1998, it has awarded over $353 million to 1,006 organizations in its home states of Arizona and Indiana. For more information about the Trust and its programs visit www.ninapulliamtrust.org.
