Arizona Cardinals Intercept Cancer at House of Refuge in Mesa
Mesa, AZ – The Cardinals are coming to Mesa on Saturday, September 30th, 2023,to battle cancer and exclusively serve the families residing in the House of Refuge transitional housing program – primarily single moms escaping domestic violence and/or homelessness.
The Crucial Catch Wellness Day will focus on women’s health and the early detection of cancer. From 9:30am to 1:30pm, medical professionals from Cigna and Evernorth Care Group will offer free walkup appointments to House of Refuge residents for biometric health screenings to check blood pressure, blood cholesterol, blood sugar, and body mass index. Simon Med’s Mobile On-site Mammography (MOM) trailer will be available for pre-scheduled exams at no cost.
The private event will also feature a variety of exciting activities for each member of the families at House of Refuge. There will be lots of food, games, giveaways, and special appearances for Cardinals fans of all ages.
Kayla Kolar, President and CEO of House of Refuge, expressed sincere appreciation saying, “As our residents work hard to rebuild their lives and become self-reliant, some may not feel they have time for preventative healthcare. We are very grateful to the Cardinals for bringing these important screenings right to our campus in such an enjoyable way.”
